As we all know, packing can come with problems. There’s the worry of losing your packer down your pants leg - and not realizing it until you feel it in a very wrong place. And there are practical problems, such as keeping the packer in the right position without constant adjustment. The inventor of TranZwear® understood these problems and came up with an idea to allow secure packing that was also comfortable.
Since 2006, TranZwear®, has evolved into the web-based business you see today. In response to customer questions and comments, four different designs have been developed and revised to best meet the needs of the butch-queer-trans community, and as well in 2012, adding BulletBriefs, the wholesale end of the business . Without the inconvenience and discomfort of Velcro, sagging elastic bands, pins or snaps, our underwear allows you to pack in comfort and security.
Near the end of 2010, the original owner and creator of TranZwear® , decided that he wanted to focus on other interests, and he sold the company to me. I grew up in a military town in Southern California, spending most of my youth at the beach. I have been “out” as queer most of my adult life, always at the M end of the F to M spectrum, but I’ve never been quite sure about LGBTQ titles, much less pronouns, because none of them fit me very well. I still ID as gendgerqueer, and am happy to support the entire spectrum along the gender continuum thru providing gear and services to the entire community. I live with my very supportive partner in San Francisco. We have a total of 6 kids sort of the Gay Brady Bunch-LOL.
I have been involved in the GLBTQ community for many years. I worked for 15 years for a large HIV nonprofit here in San Francisco and, through that, have made both professional and personal connections in the community. I have been very fortunate to work in a supportive environment, yet still have had to deal with constant questioning in public about “what are you?” by the "gender police" including being chased out of women's restrooms since I was a youngster. 2006 brought top surgery, and immediately I began to feel much more comfortable in my skin. And then in 2009, I made the decision to add T. I began packing more regularly, and then found TranZwear® through a support group.
Taking over TranZwear® seems like a natural progression in my growth. I understand the issues we all face as trans and/or gender queer, and have every intention of keeping TranZwear® within the community, supporting individuals in their journey, and continuing to make donations to GLBTQ causes as the site is able. I plan to continue developing and expanding the designs available, with the idea that passing should be possible (and comfortable) not only on the street but also in the gym, shower, and bathrooms of our choice. Confidence is a goal worth seeking, and we're here to assist.
